Keithley has done some interesting things with the IEEE 488 spec (including making up a pseudo "spec" 488.1). I thought the 488HS spec addressed automatically downgrading to low speed operation if the devices were not HS enabled? can you verify the USB-GPIBHS converter complies with this requirement from its manual? The 2400 is not a high speed device.

Thanks Dennis! thats a good nugget of information to have.
So the Keilthey is hanging - due to its internal FW. Try sending IFC. Also make sure you use Async VISA calls and a small delay so that the query EIO is processed before you try to read (or you will need to send IFC again:)

Thank you jeff for what you have suggested, I will think about that, I read from the user manual it was helpful to me,
Dennis, I meant I will call the technicien to check the Keithley source meter, not the GPIB card, the pb is coming from the meter, isn't it ? since the GPIB interface is working well with the other device (Temperature controller).

I suspect the instrument more than anything since a different instrument seems to work just fine.
I've only briefly used the 2400 and though I did use other Keithley source meters, it was a while ago and I don't remember the details. I'll repeat my suggestion to check the GPIB congfiguration of the instrument if there are options you can change. Make sure the GPIB address is unique, make sure it's not configured to require a character after EOI, etc.
