Do you have either the USB-GPIB or GPIB-Ethernet adapters? If so I would try and talk to the instrument with them and see which one you can implement.

Hi CC,
No we dont we need to buy them I thought to buy prologix bridges each cost around 200$.

Well, if you go with that hobbyist approach, you cannot use any standard instrument drivers because the prologix is not a true GPIB controller as far as the system is concerned. Since your time is 'free', I suppose that can be justified but keep in mind that support is going to be limited.

what do you suggest?

Are you suggesting that if I use prologix GPIB-USB then the instrument manufacturs Labview driver wont work, or I will need to hack it ?

Both. A driver will not work until you hack it. The prologix requires you to add serial communication code. Look at their website for the LabVIEW examples and directions for modification.
USB controllers from NI, Agilent, Keithley, etc, appear to the system as actual GPIB controllers. The prologix appears as a serial port so all of the GPIB/VISA Writes/Reads need to be changed.

And do you think I sould go for the USB-GPIB option?

Hi,
What about Advantech?
Thank you for the help,

Hi Ben,
It looks like Advantech does have a LabVIEW driver. However, I do not have one of these devices on hand to test. I can't say with certainty whether it will show up or not as a GPIB resource.
I am assuming you are talking about one of these?
