Hi,
I got a LabVIEW and TestStand to trial and want to remove them. I do not remember what versions.
Cannot remove a residue of files from my W10, they are a bugger to shift and seem to b stuck to my system like **bleep** on a shovel. Been at this for some time. I am not a [software] boffin and have limited knowledge of the intricacies of windows.
I started this process by finding the NI icon in my Apps and Features directory and uninstalled it.
Subsequently found more [NI] files in subdirectories Program Files and Program Files[86] respectively and removed [with IOUninstaller]. This might have included removing ValidateUninstall and uninst.exe files.
From NI forums, loaded Revosetup and removed more files in Users folder.
I cannot get Windows Powershell [Administrator] to execute:
wmic product > filename.txt
Nothing is displayed, comes up blank.
From Task Manager, I think the final amount I’m left with is:
I’ve had a butcher’s at numerous forum topics. I think one of my problems is that I only have a few files left in the Services directory which makes them difficult to remove?
I think I have a couple of options:
1] Remove what’s listed in my Task Manager. But unsure how to do this, this easiest?
Unsure if they are the only NI files in my system, and obviously not knowing their name or where they are, [being squirrelled away somewhere, ready to propagate in the future?].
2] a] i] Download another exact version? Or any version do?
2] a] ii] Would I need permission from an administrator to get it? I am only entitled to forum support.
2] b] Or could one of you send me a version that would secure those files for removal?
I’d greatly appreciate ur advice. I never expected the uninstall process to be so complicated or difficult.
With thanks,
Max444.

Do you have NI Package Manager installed? That is supposed to be the way to install / uninstall NI components.

If I'm not mistaken, trying to uninstall from Apps and Features opens up NI Package Manager. (Sometimes it's there, sometimes it's not; probably related to whether or not you have "pre-NIPM" stuff installed.)

What versions of LabVIEW and TestStand do you have? I don't see where you have stated that anywhere.

Hi B.,
Thanks for prompt reply. I will d/l NI Package Manager and see how that goes.
Thanks again,
M.

Hi R.,
I didn't record at t time. Have just d/led NIPM 19.6.0 and initiated a uninstall routine. Was/is distracted by seeing AOMEIBackupperStd, as I previously used it for backing up my system. But in Task manager/ Services, I still see NI files, as below. How do I remove them?
Thanks,
Max444.

I ask because NI Package Manager came out with one of the more recent versions of LabVIEW. So if your version was let's say 2 or 3 years old, NIPM may not affect it.
I would hope you would have known how long ago you installed LabVIEW. Was it in the past year? Or several years ago?

If you used anything other than NI's LabVIEW "installers" (and "uninstallers", namely removing via Control Panel's "Programs and Features"), such as any "Registry" tool to find NI entries and remove them from the Registry, the chances are fairly high that you have rendered your PC "LabVIEW-incompatible" (I, unfortunately, know about this as I did it, myself, several years ago).
If this is the case, there is (only?) one sure fix -- back up "what needs to be backed up", make a list of "what is installed", wipe the C: drive, reinstall Windows, reinstall all your Applications, reinstall all your Data Files, and then reinstall LabVIEW using the appropriate LabVIEW Installers. It is somewhat painful, but in my (also painful) experience, doing anything else just wastes time until you reformat the C: drive.
