Replacing elements in Producer Consumer Design template

Can the elements in the producer/consumer design template be replaced by VISA events?

For example can Obtain Queue be replaced by Enable Event

Enqueue be replaced by wait on event

dequeue be replaced by disable event

and release queue be replaced by discard events

I am still getting my grasp on the producer consumer design pattern. Perhaps an example VI that uses VISA read and Write with an event strucuture would an answer to a lot of my questions.
