Robo Rio 1 corrupt firmware and is acting strange

I have a Robo Rio 1 for FRC 2172.  Our spare Rio has been sitting in a tool chest. We are building a new robot and we decided to use it. The only problem is the Rio imager detects it but when you go to format it or update it it fails.  We tried booting it into safe mode but it doesn't help.  We don't know what to do because the session is about to start and Robo Rio is expensive.

The Robo Rio 1 is no longer being manufactured.  However, if you search the Web (and maybe E-bay), you might be able to find one.  I believe the Robo Rio 2 is still available (again, the Web is the place to look).  Plus if you want a myRIO, better order fast ...
