I use the "Invoke Method data Binding: Bind to Network Path"  of a control to programmatically to set the url of the shared variable. To accesss this method, right click on the control on the block diagram and select  "create>>invoke node>>Data Binding>> Bind to Network Path".

Hi turbot,

This is a known problem and it has been reported in CAR 40E8RAV9. At this point programmatic Front Panel binding is not available for PSP binding. The feature works for Datasocket binding. If you have the following setup:

Front Panel Control => Shared Variable => Device I/O point, you can programmatically specify the Device I/O point to which the Shared Variable is bound. However, you cannot programmatically change what Shared Variable the Front Panel Control is bound to.

Hope that helps!

Kalin,

Will this issue be fixed in 8.2.1, or will we have to wait for "a future version of LabVIEW?"

Sorry turbot, it appears that this issue will be fixed in a future LabVIEW release. I apologize for the inconvenience!

It is now LV 8.6 and programmatic front panel binding to a NSV still does not appear to work.  However the Front Panel Binding Mass Configuration Tool

seems to be able to do it.  Could someone please explain how ordinary mortals can achieve this functionality?
