Well you would have to be much more specific about what you imagine it to look like.

Perhaps mixing a silver control and a classic numeric is better suited?  It would match your initial description better...

Here's what I would probably do.... (LabVIEW 8.2)

(EDIT: Re-uploaded the VI, because The IPE Structure I used was mutilated when saving for LabVIEW 8.2. The 2012 version using IPE structure is also attached for comparison)
