State diagram toolkit

Hello,

These state machine toolkits are well known to me:

The first two are no longer recommended:

  • The first version of the NI editor worked without a hitch with LV18. With LV21 (I haven't tested it with the intermediate and more recent versions of LV) it remains functional in development mode, but not in an executable.
  • The new one is no longer supported either, and has a few bugs.

What state machine editors do you use?

Thank you for your advice, which will enable me to assess whether other utilities could replace/complement those I'm using (or used to use).

Best regards

Hi

I don't use any such tools myself. But it may be worth noting, that NI replaced it by the

LabVIEW Statechart Module, downloadable directly from ni.com

back in 2008. The latest version is from 2018, so maybe NI lost interest in it.

There was a heated discussion about the original State Diagram Toolkit version from 2003 and its replacement. So NI revived State Diagram Toolkit in 2012.

Regards

Are there any additional utilities for the JKI State Machine?
I remember the draft of an automatic UML generator.

The NI toolkit's ability to graphically define/visualize states and transitions was very welcome, and I'd be very interested in an editor combining this functionality with those of the JKI State Machine.

There's the JKI State Machine Editor.

Thank you for your contribution.

I had been a fervent user of this utility since it first appeared and I well remember the Bring back the State Diagram Editor suggestion. By the way, if you read through the comments, you'll find one from me with the desired improvements.

As mentioned by its author, "And no, the state chart module is not a replacement for the State Diagram Editor!"

There's the JKI State Machine Editor.

Thanks for mentioning this utility, which is indeed very practical, not to say indispensable.

My research is mainly focused on :

  • a SM editor with graphical editing functions such as NI's toolkit. For more details and some pictures, see here or the user guide of the first version of this toolkit.
  • a tool for visualizing JKI state machines. If anyone uses AntiDoc to do this, please share your experience.
