Tachometer

Hello Everyone,

I am trying to develop a tachometer to measure the speed of a wheel in rpm using LabVIEW and NI instruments.

I have a cDAQ-9178, NI 9401 and a remote optical sensor http://lgstatic.transcat.com/media/pdf/ros-w.pdf.

Could someone be kind enough to guide me on how to accomplish this task as I am new to LabVIEW.

Also, as NI 9401 is a digital module, does it imply that when I am configuring my DAQ assistant within LabVIEW  I have to set my acquire signal to digital input or counter input?

Have you looked at the counter examples that ship with Labview?  There should be something in there to help you get started. If you have any questions after trying these examples, come back to the forum with the code that you tried and explain the issues that you are having.
