To determine position of NI starter kit 2.0 using encoder feedback

Hi buddies..

 

I am  using NI Starter kit 2.0 for my project and is very much new to LabVIEW.. So need your help

 

What I want to do is, I want to determine the position of starter kit when it moves  such as to know where it has reached ?

 

For that encoders are attached to DC motors of starter kit to determine motor velocity.. Also I read somewhere that -In hardware, the encoders send digital signals back to the NI Single-Board RIO device, where, in software, you can determine velocity from the difference in phases that the encoders return. 

 

So my question is- How to write a LabVIEW code for this? How to read encoder value? 

Plzz guide me through this..
