Tools -> Options does not open in Labview2021

Solved!
Go to solution

Hello,

I would like to open the "Options" window but I can't.
When I click the "Options" from "Tools" dropdown menu a PreferenceDialog.vi is temporarily opened to load some vi files. However after some time the PreferenceDialog.vi is closed and nothing happens after all.

Labview itself seems to be working correctly but only "Options" can't be opened.
Any clues to solve this issue are appreciated.

Have you tried moving/hiding your "LabVIEW.ini" file?  Maybe it has a fault.

Thank you for the reply.
Yes I checked previous Q&As and it was tried. I changed the name of "Labview.ini" file.
But the result was the same.
Probably full uninstall and re-install of Labview software is needed?

I have uninstalled everything and re-installed the downgraded Labview (2020).
Now everything is working correctly.

I am having a similar issue with LabVIEW 2020 SP1 (which was working fine before stupid Winblows update that also messed up native ZIP compression - unable to roll that back)

Tried "repairing" LV 2020 SP1 - did not work.  I REALLY don't want to have to try and uninstall (CLEANLY YET AGAIN NI) and then reinstall.

What is the ROOT cause FIX for this issue?

When I install LabVIEW, the first thing I do is to open Tools, Options, and set a bunch of Options, including turning on TCP/IP and setting up other options I use (though I can't always find some of them).

This includes the LabVIEW 2021 system on this machine.  One difference -- I'm using 32-bit LabVIEW, having never installed 64-bit versions.  Could that be a factor?

No

I am using 32-bit LV 2020 SP1

And yes, I know NI doesn't officially support versions prior to LV 2022 on Windows 11.  LV seems to work fine otherwise, but I really don't like the "options" dialog disabled like this.  BUG.

I run 2019 on W11, it works just fine. Not supported just means that NI doesn't test it, but the differences between W7, W10 and W11 are small.

LV updates and even LV can be hampered by AV programs every so often when they get false positives. Apparently LV is small enough for AV makers to forget to check for them or something.
