Also, that particular Control "style" is from the Silver Palette, released at the 25th (Silver) Anniversary of LabVIEW.  Some of us like it for "a Visually Appealing Front Panel", but tastes differ ...

I don't care for the silver controls.  I find them too bulky.  I often prefer the cleaner look of System, or even the Classic controls (Simple Numeric, & Simple String are great in arrays).

I also don't normally use them.  The only time is when I have a "simple Front Panel" for someone who doesn't know (or care to know) LabVIEW.  And I only use them on the "User-facing" VI.
