While DirectShow devices are "Supported" by IMAQdx, the level of functionality available with a give device is ultimately determined by the device manufacturer. In the case of most consumer-grade cameras, the functionality is practically non-existant, beyond setting the device resolution, contrast, brightness, and white level.
Here is a list of supported USB3 cameras. These have more functionality exposed than the average camera off the shelf.
