LV application menu nonsense.png

I've made a thousand applications and have never seen this before. Why is my menu garbled? It should be in English.

The very first thing needs to be checked is the language for non-unicode progs, should be English for your case:

This change will take effect after restart (or logoff/logon).

OK, if these menu items are you own (loaded from external file), then it could be wrong encoding.

I definitively have seen something similar. Which captions are expected and correct, by the way?

What version of LabVIEW is that?  The Icon (Top left) looks very old.

It should look like this. This is a vanilla application with vanilla settings.

No, it is modern, this is how app from latest LV2024Q3 looks like (don't remember at which version the icon was changed):

I can easily reproduce this "issue" with Cyrillic characters (above is string "Файл(F)" means File(F) in OEM-Cyrillic encoding), but author did't mentioned that other than English chars was used.

Interesting fact that "File" was converted to <garbage>(F) as well as other standard menu. Looks like something wrong with regional settings and LabVIEW Runtime wrongly detected OS language and turned to Japanese, Korean or Simplified Chinese instead of English - this could explain presence of (F), (E), (O) etc.

Got this reproduced:

It is Simplified Chinese (and 32-bit LabVIEW, by the way)

Check preferred language setting here:

(For me default menu appeared in German).
