What licences do I have ?

Hi

Over the last fifteen years (or more) I had many Labview licences, I still have the CDs of LV6 and LV8.6.

I am not interested in LV8.6 now but since 2017 I must have bought a dozen licences, with or without SSP, I still have the licence numbers of these and on some I had SSP so normally I am allowed to upgrades.

For instance, I had a LV 2019 Full and one or two years SSP.... but I did not record all. OK, I am at fault for not recording all these but NI should have kept a record of what licences I have right ?

Yet, when I look at "My orders" on ni.com site there is no way I can get licence numbers and versions I am allowed to install. Since the NI suits decides to change price policy I want to stick to my old pre 2023 LV versions but I don t know where to find what licence numbers and versions I have bought.

I am wondering if this is a "feature" so as to force ppl to buy new licences.

Do you have any ideea how to find out the licence numbers and versions I am allowed to install ?

When you are installing the NI Software using NI License Manager you are requested to login using NI Account . after clicking activate software (choose the drop down check my account for license)

All the Software License activation will be mapped with the account you use. Anytime you can pull from the list of licenses associated with the Account.

If not you can contact NI to get the details based on your purchase order number from your organization. Hopefully they should have the details.

Well, not exactly.

When I install a LV version I first need to select which version to install : 2018, 2019,... I have a dozen. Then I need to activate it by adding a licence number for the version I installed.

To be more specific : I had a 2020 Professional with 3 years SSP. I have the USB and the licence number for this. If I install this 2020 version all is OK and I can activate it. But I could also install LV 2022 because I had this SSP, but there is nowhere I can find this information.

Worse ; since my email changed I have two accounts (apparently it was not possible for NI to merge the two accounts !) so things got even messier.

Why NI can not do what Amazon and any other decent company I know does : list all orders I made with details like licence numbers ? It's not that difficult, is it ?

Hi

I just checked, that NI still keep my records. I have an active 3 year extension for LabVIEW.

So I log onto NI using my account details, a mail address and a password.

I go to "My Account". I click on this :

Everything bought is listed there. Including the Serial Numbers for software products like LabVIEW.

It even list old retired Serial Numbers by NI for products where I then got a new Serial Number. So pretty comprehensive.

Records older than about 2006 are not listed though.

It is always a splendid idea to keep the activation mail ( Your NI Activation Request ) you receive whenever activating something. They can be handy on occasion.

I also ran into the problem of not being able to separate existing licenses onto different email accounts. NI are unwilling to change that. Probably to prevent people reselling "used" software.

I have development licenses and runtime licenses. They are all assigned to my account.

This means that I am the only person that can activate the runtime licenses. Quite inconvenient in a production environment.

So do give it a thought when NI states that your account is really your personal account. And be sure to use different accounts to logically separate licenses.

Regards

You can always look at your list of registered products on your MyNI account.
