cleanup just stopped working

I was using LabVIEW to edit some block diagram and hit ctrl-U and nothing happened.  I did it 5 minutes ago and it worked.

So I moved something out of place and tried again.  Nope.

What the what??

So I got the idea that Microsoft was (once again) out to make me grumpy.  I restarted the computer and there was a new update.  It was 105 ... 25% ... 90% ... done.  Restarted.   Yay.  That might have it.

Nope.

Control-U is now no longer working.

I didn't change any setting anywhere.

Here is computer info (names were changed to protect the innocent).

Here is version information for LabVIEW (names again changed to protect the innocent)

What gives?

How do I make this work again?

So I found there was an "Options" panel and I went there.  There is a "Block Diagram" tab so I clicked it.  I scrolled down and found "Manual tuning" for the block diagram.  I enabled it and the cleanup worked again.  I tried it.  Then I re-enabled automatic cleanup.

That was strange.  I don't know why it happened.  I hope it doesn't happen again.

Interesting.

Things I do know.  You can run clean-up a couple different times and get different results.  Sometimes even if you run it back to back.

It's possible that with a small enough change, the current state might be considered clean enough that it doesn't need to modify anything.  But I don't see that very often.

Don't know why it would stop working, but maybe the change from auto to manual back to auto was enought for it to reset itself.

There is no need to blank out the VI server port on your About screen.  It is probably the same has everyone else's and in the neighborhood of 3363, 3364, 3365 ...

Knowing that port is really not any kind of security risk and is meaningless unless we also know your IP address of your PC as it would appear to anyone outside of your domain.

Hi I just found it interesting and i was trying to read and see what and all it can have an effect, could you  provide more details on below please:

-VI Properties General->Separate Compiled code from source file checked or unchecked for the vi?

-VI Properties Memory Usage->Screenshot of all data?

-Tools->Profile->VI Metrics for the VI including Statastics for diagram

-The Block diagram cleanup Options(http://www.ni.com/tutorial/7386/en/)

-Tools->Options->Environment Compiler Value?

-While I tried to clean up using manual option also it didn't work.

-But when i change the Move indicators to the right of the containing diagram it does change the BD

-Also it does change BD when any one of the structures in BD made as exclude from diagram cleanup.

Thanks

If you think that cleanup is not working, make sure nothing on the block diagram is selected. If you select parts of the diagram, ony that part gets cleaned up. For example if a single primitive or wire is selected, cleanup won't do anything noticeable.

@altenbach - I thought that might be the problem.  I tried the selecting other things.  It didn't help.  I tried picking the wire to an indicator and making a mess of it, then just selecting the wire, and cleaning it up and nothing happened.  I tried a number of things.

Hi, I ran the vis on the .zip and I could clean it up fine, does it happen with other VIs? what if you copy the code and paste it on a new VI? maybe you selected Exclude from diagram cleanup.

I found this forums about a similar behavior:

http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/cleanup-diagram-not-working/td-p/3203485

It could be something with the size of your vi, or the amounts of elements
