pen-up pen-down on etch-a-sketch

Solved!
Go to solution

I have a 6th grade class that has made a simple etch-a-sketch using ex xy graph. The students want to be able to move to a new location without there being a trace. Similar to the pen-up pen-down question. They also have this working reading analog voltage inputs from a joystick. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

I would probably suggest using a picture control for something like this, not an XY graph, but since you already have it, you can do a "pen up" by plotting a point where either value is NaN. The point will not appear on the graph.

Also, I believe there should already be at least one etch-a-sketch example online. If you find it and look through it, you might get additional ideas.

Then again, there is no "pen up" on an etch-a-sketch"!  Great, introducing LabVIEW to sixth graders! We'll have some really experienced LabVIEWers when they get out of college!

The NaN with selectors worked just fine. I was using a Vernier Sensor DAQ to read analog voltages from a joystick. Placed a PenUp PenDown on the front panel and the kids thought it was great.

Thanks to all for the suggestions.
