I am using a 1042Q chassis running WinXP SP3 and using a PXI-7833R card for some lab measurement.
I want to program this FPGA card from my desktop computer in my office, but I cannot see the FPGA card as a remote ressource in MAX, no matter how hard I try >_<
There are other shared ressources on that 1042Q chassis that I can however see from my office computer (GPIB stuff)
My drivers settings:
1042 PXI computer:
LV 8.6/8.2/8.0
LV FPGA 8.6/8.2
VISA 4.4.1
NI-RIO 3.0
WinXP SP3
office computer:
LV 8.6
LV FPGA 8.6
VISA 4.4.1
NI-RIO 3.0
WinXP SP3
Here is what I did until now:
I checked that the RIO service is enabled and running on the PXI PC.
I turned off anti-virus and firewall on both computers.
I can ping both computers in both directions.I can run and connect to a remote compile server from the PXI computer LV on my office computer.
I explicitly allowed my office PC as a remote user in the PXI computer VISA settings (I have the '*' setting as well).
When I look in VISA aliases on the PXI computer I can see the FPGA card as RIO0::INSTR
When I look in VISA aliases on my office computer I can also see the FPGA card as visa://192.168.0.173/RIO0::INSTR !!!
From there, if I right click this line and click 'go to ressource', I get an error msg from MAX: 'Internal MAX Error. Could not get interface to MAX database'
Of course in LV8.6 on my office computer I cannot add the remote FPGA target.
I went through the forums and could not find any solutions to my problem.
Thank you for any help.

I updated the RIO drivers to the lastest version I found (3.2.1), yet it did not change anything.
By the way this post should better be in another board, maybe 'Instrument Control'
I made the mistake when posting after going thourgh all these related posts on the subject.
All my apologies ^^
