CVI + NI Siganl Express Fails when Building application

Hi,
Help please.. I'm against the ropes..
I'm getting errors when I try to build an application and I don't know what to do since it hasn't happened  before 😞
The thing is I'm working with Labwindows CVI 8.0, NIDAQ USB 6008, and a Tektronix scope TDS 1002B. I installed the NI Signal Express software, which I received when I purchased the scope. I noticed that NI Signal Express updated my NI Visa version ( I was working with NI VISA 4.0 before that. And I could succesfully build applications too!)

So I put my hands on to build the application and CVI prompted me with the following: "Can not find 'NI Signal Express Tektronix Ed'", so I tell it to look for it in the CD drive : "D:\NISignalExpress"... but unfortunately I get : " Error Copying Sources Distributions to build location"

So, I copied the NISignalExpress Folder to my Hard Drive  ... and CVI beginst to build the appleication and when it is almost done (let's say 97%) , I get the following:
ERROR: [MStudioRecipeProcessor.msi] has the same product code {4159DD60-49C1-4323-A1A5-FB060CBA35C5} as another part's product code. Make sure that the same part is not referenced in multiple PDFs.

Please help me. I Must have this application built and redy to go today.

Thanks a lot!

The first thing I'd ask is that you create and post a debug log which can tell us many things about the build process and your setup.  Also, can you tell me the versions on the CDs (Signal Express, NI-DAQ, etc) that you installed?

Hi Mert,

Thank you for your answer!!
I've attached the Debug Log.
Versions on the CDs are:
1)NI Signal Express Tektronix Edition: v1.2
2)NI DAQ mx 8.01
3)LabWindows CVI 8.0

It appears that the version of NI Assistant Framework (a support component) that was included in NI Signal Express Tektronix Edition 1.2 does not properly upgrade earlier versions of NI Assistant Framework.  You now have two versions of NI Assistant Framework installed on your machine.  I will recommend that you use the attached MSIBlast.exe utility to uninstall the older of the two.

When you run MSIBlast, you should see two entries in the list that say "NI Assistant Framework" in the first column.  In the second column, you should see two different Product Codes. Highlight the one with the product code {1AD77A05-76EC-44CF-940F-799FFFE6C731} and press the Uninstall button.

This should solve your problem.  If it does not, please post another debug log.  Thanks.

Hi Mert,

It worked!! 🙂

All the thing was fixed as soon as the older version of NI Assistant Framework was unistalled.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!Smiley Happy

Hi Mert,

I have this problem now. I distributed the application, but users get errors at the end of the process. I've try to install the application on a test machine and it installs succesfully but when I try to run the application it says it has a missing panel.(which is included! I didn't forget it!)

My test machine runs Windows 2000, and the other PCs are WinXP.

You'll find the errors in the attached files.

Any idea??

Thanks,

Claudia

Regarding your LoadPanel error, make sure that tlp_auto7_cal.uir is either installed in the same directory as the executable, or you specify a relative path in LoadPanel which correctly locates tlp_auto7_cal.uir.  Also make sure that you are not renaming the file to something else during installation.

As far as your users' installation issues, it would be very helpful to have an installation log.  Have them re-run the installer from the command line by calling:

setup.exe /log logfile.txt

Then post the logfile here and I'll take a look.  Also, please upload your distribution to ftp://ftp.ni.com/incoming so I can examine that as well.

Thanks.

Mert,

I'm waiting for the Installer Logfile.

Meanwhile... what's the user and pass to access the FTP site ?

Thanks,

You won't need a password.  Try an empty username/password.

Hmm...no, I can't access the site. I've tried with a FTP Client and with IExplorer... but no way... IE shows me the contents but I can't neither read nor write 😞
