Can I queue time gated frequency measurements on th 53132A so that I can read the measurements at a slower rate?

Hello.  I am trying to perform measurements on a time-armed, 53132A counter with a gate time of < 0.1 sec.  My problem is that when I perform a sample capture with my labview app, I'm averaging ~0.173msec/sample.  So, I'm missing some in-between measurements.  Is there a way to set the counter up so that the gated measurements are stored in an internal  output queue so that when I request a measurment I get FIFO data?

Thanks.

Hey Allan,

In order for us to properly troubleshoot this I need to ask you some questions.  What driver and version are you using in Labview to communicate with  53132A?  What version of Labview are you using.  Also, who is the manufactorer of the the 53132A?

Hey Jason,

I'm using the built in GPIB driver that came with Labview.  Labview version is 8.2.  Agilent is the manufacturer of the 53132A.

Thanks.

Dear Allan

Did you manage to solve the problem. I am using Agilent frequency counter (53132A) and I want to store measurments in a output buffer of the frequency counter but I dont know how to do that.

I sent a question on this forum but did not get much response so I thought to ask you. Please help me

Thank you

Faheem

Faheem,

Can you store measurements how you want when you are just using the device, and not necessarily using LabVIEW at all?  If so, how?  That will be the first step to find out if you can do it while controlling the device with a driver.  If you are not sure if you actually are given control over that, then you might get more ideas from the manufacturer.  If you find out that it is something that you can programmatically control and what commands do it, then that should give direction for how to do it in LabVIEW.

Hope this helps,
