Why does NI Update Service not remove unnecessary files after finishing?
Every time NI Update Service is updating software it creates a directory National Instruments\Installers with the extracted download. This may well be several hundred MegaBytes. After updating installation these files are not used anymore. They could be deleted automatically...

Is it caching the download in case the files are needed to create a distribution in CVI? Just a thought...

Hi
you can find the answer for this question in this threat:

Thanks!
My extracted summary:
These folders should not be deleted for patches until a new (full) release is installed.
Since those folder names are not self explanatory it might be best to choose a drive with less space constraints, using menu File >> Preferences
Maybe NI can also consider providing (an option to) automatic clean-up.
