Specific Driver Test Suite Fails Under CVI 2010

I'm currently trying to run the IVI Specific Driver Test Suite from within CVI 2010.  I get the following error:

"LabWindows\CVI 2009 is not detected on your system.  Install LabWindows\CVI 2009 and run the IVI Specific Driver Test Suite again."

I have the latest ICP 4.3 installed and this problem is reproducable on multiple build machines.  Is there a way to get around this error?

#define IADQMARKCHMBR_ERROR_SET_LOOPS_FAIL            (IVI_CLASS_ERROR_BASE + 24)LabWindows\CVI 2009 is not detected on yoru system.  Install LabWindows\CVI 2009 and run the IVI Specific Driver Test Suite again

Hi Mike,

Unfortunately, this undesirable behavior was a problem with CVI 2010. The behavior has been documented and is being worked on for future releases. For now, I would recommend downloading CVI 2009 to work around this issue.

I tried to install CVI 2009, but to no avail. It refuses to install claiming that newer version is already installed. I tried uninstalling CVI 2010, but it didn't help. Even if MAX does not show ANY CVI as installed software, still installation of 2009 claims that newer version is already installed and refuses to install. I'm stuck with 2010 and cannot go down to 2009. What should I do to get this feature working?

(Please do not recommend OS reinstall, this is not an option).

Hi Jiri,

Did you use Add/Remove programs to remove CVI 2010?

Hello Andrew,

yes, I did. I removed all CVI versions using Add/Remove programs, then I deleted all registry entries and remaining CVI folders and still no luck. Windows 7 64 bit. Could it be that there's something hidden in x86 registry hive?

Thank you.

Hi Jiri,

What exactly happens when you try to install CVI 2009? Does it give you an error message? Do you have any other NI software installed on your computer?

I had the same problem under Windows 7.  Never was able to get anything working.

Hi Andrew,

the last screen prior to start copying files says:

Cannot install
NI LabWindows/CVI Distribution
Help Files (incompatible with products already installed)
Examples (incompatible with products already installed)
Interface to Win32 API (incompatible with products already installed)
Tools
Visual Studio 2005 Wizards (higher version already installed)
Visual Studio 2008 Wizards (higher version already installed)
TDM Excel Add-In (higher version already installed)
IVI Installer Creator (higher version already installed)
IVI Specific Driver Test Suite (higher version already installed)
LabWindows/CVI Run-Time Engine (higher version already installed)

Installer Prompts
You will be prompted to provide the source for the following installers:
National Instruments Device Driver media

After clicking Next, it only prompts for device drivers. Then it shows 'Intallation Complete' screen, however it installed nothing. Not a single file.

As for installed software, there's plenty of it. Please see enclosed MAX report. To be noted, it contains CVI2010 as I need it for my everyday job, but I tried to uninstall it prior to CVI2009 installation, but it didn't help.

Best Regards,

Jiri

Hi Jiri,

I did some more research, and discovered that most of the NI software installed on your computer is linked to your LabWindows/CVI 2010 Runtime engine. Unfortunately, what this means is that your next best step is to do a complete uninstall of NI Software, and start over again with LabWindows/CVI 2009.

Hi Andrew,

thank you. Not a good news, but still thank you for the effort you spent with this issue. I will try it in next few days.

Best Regards,

Jiri
