Why does NI Update Service not support NI-Serial?

NI Update service shows available updates of GPIB, CAN, DAQ... drivers but for some reason not any updates of NI serial

I am referring to the latest NI update service 16.0.0.33 aka 16.0.1. Although NI-Serial 2017 is available at the NI site and my lab computer has NI serial 14.0 installed, there is no notification

The NI-Serial driver hasn't been distributed through update service since NI Serial 4.0... I don't have the historical context to explain that decision, but I can see that being a pain-point. I passed feedback along to the NI-Serial team about this.
