Following the suggestion from Roberto here I enabled "Automatically save copy of UIR as TUI file" in CVI 2015 SP1. This simplifies the handling of UI files in git.
I have enabled the "auto backup" feature too, as shown below:
I've just noticed that there is at least one condition when CVI automatically saves a copy of the .tui file. I don't know exactly which is this condition: time interval, before compiling, before debugging, other, ...
I suppose that this happens when an .uir has been edited and not saved yet. In this case, the file is saved appending "~hhmmss" before the extension.
These files are not deleted when I save the .uir file pressing the button.
And this is annoying because git finds new file to track and I must manually delete (or exclude from tracking) them.
Is this an expected behavior?
If not, is it possible to fix this?

I have the same problem. After long programming sessions there can be hundreds of tui files strewn around the directory...

NI technical support confirmed this is a bug.
CAR #624635 has been opened for this issue.
