strip chart or graph?

Hello,

I am new to Labview and would like some advice on some simple testing of temperature. I am trying to collect and graph/strip chart temperature vs. time. I will be running a two hour test to see the temperature rise in a component, with that being said I need to see two hours worth of time in the x-axis. What is the best approach for doing this a strip chart or graph?

thanks

Hi Vinso,

First of all, here is LabWindows/CVI forum Smiley Happybut It doesn't matter a lot. Secondly, I would say that both solutions are possible. This will mainly depends on the number of points you have to display and on your personnal will.

What is your acquisition rate ? What number of points do you expect to print ? Just try the LV help and example search, you will find much interesting information there.

Best regards,

You mention that it is possible to create a temperature versus time chart . Can you point me to a worked example as we wish to do the same.

Hello HarveyT,

I advice you to use the 'Find examples' utility. Go to the Help >> Find Examples. Then you will be able to browse through the examples. I suggest you to go to Hardware Input & Output >> Daqmx >> Analog Measurements >> Temperature. Then by selecting one of the examples, you will be able to check the hardware it has been designed to work with.

The 'Cont. Acq. Thermocouple Samples - Int. Clk.vi' may fit you needs. [as the original message was regarding a LV question, I go on with giving LV answer, but you can act the same with CVI if you are a CVI user. In this case, ContThrmcplSamps-IntClk.prj should help]

Hope this helps !

Regards,
