NI-IMAQ for USB with DUAL webCams

I am using NI-IMAQ for USB with 2 QuickCam Pro for Notebooks. I can access the cameras fine when only one is connected at a time. When both the cameras are connected the subVI IMAQ USB Enumerate Cameras return same labels for both cameras. So selecting either of the labels from enumeration list only connects to the same camera (the first one in list). But from WinXP control panel I can clearly see that Windows have enumerated both cameras uniquely. I also verified that I could talk to them simultaneously from Control Panel and view the input from both sensors on separate window. I am wondering if there is a way around this in LabVIEW.

Thanks for any pointers in this regard.

K_seeker,

Unfortunately, the only list that LabVIEW will "follow" is the one that is displayed with the Enumerate Cameras vi. The problem with USB cameras is that they will give the same name in the vi, regardless of their names in Device Manager. It all depends on the drivers for the specific camera. You can read more about this at This KB .

Im sorry there isn't a better solution for you, but I hope this helps some.

Um....I have the same problem like this topic issuer, and I want to ask additional, I saw the third software, "AMcap" a general USB web camera capture software, it can select camera at your pleasure with the same module Web cam, the same driver, It can do this, why IMAQ USB camera can not ? so I want to ask, can IMAQ USB camere's reference is USB web cam's ID instead of its name ?

Hi API,

No, the only reference is to the name at this time, as Chris previously mentioned.  Thanks.

Hi rmogillet,

Vision Acquisition Software 2009 and later should have a fix in place for this issue.
