64-bit support for measurement studio

We are in Bio tech DNA sequencing.

Our data sets are getting large beyond 4 gigs we need to hold in RAM at once.

Arethere any plans to support measurement studio in 64-bit?  If not we need to move on to another vendor but would hate to do so.

Thanks,
A

Hello,

This depends on which operating system you are using.  No, Measurement Studio is not supported for Windows XP 64bit.

Measurement Studio 8.1.1 does support Windows Vista 64bit Edition.  For more information about using Measurement Studio with Windows Vista, see the links below:

Hi gyugugui,

I just wanted to add a few things to what Jessica had mentioned.  The Measurement Studio class libraries are designed to work on 64-bit OS's. However, Measurement Studio class libraries cannot be used in 64-bit applications. To use Measurement Studio class libraries on a 64-bit OS, you must configure the projects that use the class libraries to build 32-bit applications or libraries. You can find out more about this in the Using Measurement Studio on 64-Bit Operating Systems help topic found in the NI Measurement Studio Help

Now if you are asking about us having native 64-bit .NET and C++ libraries, this is on our roadmap but this feature still a ways off.  We are monitoring customers who request this feature so please submit a product suggestion so we have your request on record.  We try to base our new features on what customers are requesting for and right now, we just simply have more customers asking for other features (i.e. like Visual Studio 2008 support for example).

Hope this helps answer your questions as we are listening to customers and we want to hear your feedback.

Best Regards,
Jonathan N.

Thanks, for the quick response.

We do need nativel 64-bit support as our application needs to allocate and hold in memory 8-12 Gigabytes of RAM for each data set.

Can you please let us know which libraries you need (e.g., DAQmx, WindowsForms, WebForms, Analysis, etc.)?

Measurement Studio 2009, now available on ni.com/mstudio, includes 64-bit user mode support for all .NET libraries except DataSocket. This means you can create x64 or Any CPU .NET applications that use Measurement Studio libraries, run them on a 64-bit OS, and they will run as native 64-bit processes.
