Bad differential channel on NI-6220

Hello,

 

I have a NI-6220 card that appears to have one bad channel. When a +/- 2V sinusoid is run into it with a function generator the signal slowly drifts to -10V. The other 7 differential channels work just fine. Any thoughts?

How are you interfacing with the 6220? Using a SCB-68? A BNC-2120? A custom fixture?

 

Which channel is it?

 

The 6220 has one ADC that it uses in multiplexed mode; if all of the other channels are working then the ADC does not seem to be at fault, but one of the connections to it. Perhaps you have a bent pin somewhere that's not making contact properly, or perhaps your cable has a faulty wire?

The faulty channel is channel 1. This is using 0-7 numbering. We actually have the same issue on the same model card in a different machine. I will check the cable and the pins.

Hello,

 

I did not properly enter the product number. It is actually a NI-6221.

 

The cable and the connections prior to the card are working properly. So, unless it is one of the contacts for the card/cable interface It is the card. I presume that the 6220 and 6221 are different so thank you for your patience.

What version of the 6221 do you have? USB, PCI, PXI, USB-BNC, OEM? And what kind of breakout module are you using?

The breakout module is a CB-68LPR

 

The cable used is a SHC68-68-EPM

Nick,

 

Sounds like youre either having a connection problem on the breakout module (be sure to recheck your connections, screw terminals are sometimes finnicky), or simply have a faulty channel, which may be need to be RMA'd if its keeping you from operating. If its the latter, please give us a call and we can go throguh the RMA process if you like.

We are only using 2 channels so one faulty channel is not a problem as long as the integrity of the rest of the channels is not affected. Also, could you explain RMA.
