Err89130:Try to reset the device in MAX but reset option is greyed out in popup

I followed the directions on the website for error 89130 and the first time I tried to reset the device(in NI-daqmx devices) the reset device option was available but the reset failed. I restarted the computer hoping that might help reset it, but when I tried to run the VI again it failed with the same error. When I tried again to reset via MAX the reset option was unavailable. I tried to run the VI on another machine as well but received the same error. I am certain that the VI ran properly a week ago when I left it but now without being modified at all it is now failing to run due to error 89130.

Hi Mike,

Did you check to make sure the NI Device Loader was started?  If it will not start, here is KnowledgeBase article that may help with that problem.

NI Device Loader (nidevldu) and NI Configuration Manager Services Not Starting
http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/0819391CA91B3EB38625731D00024649?OpenDocument

What type of device are you using?  What driver versions are you using?  Has anything else changed in the system at all?

Let us know and we'll try to help further.

Nick and John,

I don't know what happened but I tried again the next day and LabView just worked magically again. No one touched the computer. It just worked. Thanks though for your help. One of the other people in my lab said that this happens from time to time. I am using a PCI-6024E connected to a BNC 2120(basic A/D-I/O board) but the other machine running it had the same problem using a different device(rack mounted BNC 2090) with appropriately modified programming.

If this is going to be a recurring problem I'd like to find a permanent solution if possible.

I think we have the newest version of the drivers for LabView7.1(hp34401a???) I'm not sure, but we haven't upgraded to the newest version of LabView for laziness sake(no one wants to edit/check all of our programs for compatibility).

Thanks,

Mike W.

Hi Mike,

One other thing to ensure is that you are not inadvertently using the device with both the Traditional NI-DAQ and NI-DAQmx drivers.  If you use the device with one driver, it needs to be reset with that driver before it is usable with the other.  This could happen if you use the Traditional NI-DAQ test panels in MAX but your application uses NI-DAQmx programming.  Let us know if the problem comes back.
