Error 229789

Hi

I have a Problem with the DAQmx Assistant Faulting Out And Returning a Fault Code - 229789.

I am New At This Programming, I Have Only Used Your Program For A Couple Of Weeks Or So.

I Purchased A USB-6211 Box To Hook Up A Analog Single To Produce A Graph Of The Output.

And At First Every Thing Worked Fine, After The Third Day Of Trying Different Things In the Program.

The VI I was developing Started Faulting When I Told It Run. It Started When I Rebooted The Computer For The Day.

And Has Not Stopped Faulting.

I Reduced The Program Down To Gust The To Components A Graph And A Analog InPut On The VI Using The DAQ Assistant, And It Still Faults Out. It Always Gives Me The Same Fault. "Error-229789   DAQmx Create Task Vi:1"   "Internal software error Occurred In MIG Software".

I Un-Installed And Reinstalled All of The LabView Programs Components (3) Times. This Last Time I Upgraded To The Ni DAQmx Device Driver 8.9.0F4

I Am Using LabView 8.6 , I Read Must Of Your Forms Related To This Problem And Check The NIMXS.EXE It Is Running, I Also Check to See If My FireWall Was Blocking It And It Is Not. And I Am Using A Stand-A-Lone Computer and I am The Administrator.

Because It Worked From A Couple Of Days, The Only Thing I Can Think Of Is That I Change Some Somewhere. Is There Any Other way To Program The USB-6211 If We Cant Figure This Problem Out.

Thanks Mark

Hi Mark-

It sounds like you might have MAX (Measurement and Automation Explorer) Database Corruption.  Have you tried opening MAX to see if your device appears under the Devices and Interfaces section?  Do you see any abnormal activity in MAX?

It is probably best to follow this KnowledgeBase article on Removing MAX Database Corruption

Let us know how this goes.  Best of luck to you!

Thanks Gary

Read The Info You Directed Me To And Found A Folder That Was Left In My Computer Even After I Uninstalled The It. So I Deleted Most Of The Folders In "ProgramData\" , After Resetting the Privileges On The Folders TO Let Me Delete Them. All The Folders And files Looked To Be Deleted Accept For The One's Vista Would Not Let Me Delete. They Were All The Files In "ProgramData\National Instruments\Shared Memory" Folder.

I Uninstalled The Programs Again (All NI Programs) and Assured The "ProgramData\" Folder Was Deleted. Then Reinstalled The LabView Programs And Drives Again. When I started It Up Again I Was Hoping To See A Like Never Installed LabView Program. Must Of It Was Asked All Questions And the Activated As Demo With Ten Days Left. Some Thing Must Have Bean In There To Know I Have Ten Days Left Still.

When I Made The Simple VI Same As Before. New Vi Put Graph On Front Panel Then goto Block Diagram And Pull Up The DAQ Assistant, It Loads and I Set It Up For Acquire Signals/Analog Input/Votage/Ai6 Hit Finished. then Run The Input Graph In the DAQ Assistant to See It Working. Hit The "OK" Button. "Programs Loads VI". While Loading VI or Gust As IT Ends The Pop Window Comes Up In The Back Ground Says "Microsoft Windows" On Top Bar Then The Message Follows "NI Assistant Host Has Stopped Working"/"A Problem Caused The Program To Stop working Correctly. Please Close The Program" And I Hit "Close". Also Has "Debug" Hit It And Close To.

Then I Continued To Wire The DAQ Assistant Up The The Graph See No Error's So Hit Run And The Same Fault Comes Up As Be For.

I Took The LabView Program And Installed It In A Friends Computer And It Work fine With 30 Day Trial And The USB 6211 (NO Problems). Like Mine Did Before for (3) Days. Must Be Something Left In My Computer Still That Your Program Is Looking At And I Can't Change By Uninstalling and Reinstalling It.

My Trial Time Is Running Out Fast With This Problem I Am Developing A System for A Automated Stress Test Machine. Tried Some Other Programs But LabView Seemed Easy To Learn And Use. I Purchased the Usb 6211 For The hope I Could Get The fundamentals Of The Program And Controls Figured Out To See If I Could control the machine and produce all the data and graph info I Needed I Was doing fine till the USB Problem

Gary Something went Wrong With My Message While I Was Trying IT. So I Sent It As Is. Hope It Went To You.

The Rest Of The Message Was That I Purchased The USB 6211 Hoping That I Would Figure Out The Nuts And Bolts Of The Program And Machine Interface Controls Before I Purchased The Labview Software. There's Money In The Budget But Not Extra For Big Software Mistake. I Spent Many Hours Learning Your Programming Language And I Like It. I Have A Lot Of The Interfacing And Graph Programming Done And It Looks Great Just As I Was Developing The Closed Loop Controls, Is When The DAQ Assistant Stop Working. So I Do Not Know If I Can Control The Feed Rates Or Pressures As I Need. That Is Why I Need More Time And The USB 6211 To Work.

Sorry About The Two Reply's  This Time.

Thanks Mark

Hi Mark-

You stated in your first post that you upgraded to DAQmx 8.9.  Were you by chance using DAQmx 8.3 before?  I see that the MIG internal error was tied to DAQmx 8.3 a while back.

Does your friend's computer use Vista?  You said it is working fine on his computer.  I wonder if this abnormal behavior is linked to the Vista OS.

Please verify that the code you are seeing is -229789 and you are still getting the Internal MIG error.  Also ensure that any earlier versions of DAQmx are uninstalled completely.  You might go ahead and upgrade to our newest driver, DAQmx 9.1 as well.

Please also try one of the example programs that come with LabVIEW.  In LabVIEW, click on Help»Find Examples, then browse to Hardware Input and Output»DAQmx»Analog Measurements»Voltage»Cont Acq&Graph Voltage - Int Clk.vi.  Run this program and let us know what happens.

Hi Gary

I Started With Ver. 8.3 Then Read Some Of Your Help Files And Upgraded To *8.9.

No My Friends OS Is Windows XP. But Your LabView Ran For (3) Days Or So Before The DAQmx Stopped Working.

I Do Not Think Vista Is The Problem.

Yes I Reinstalled 8.9. But I First Tried 8.3 DAQmx, Hoping It Would Work. The Error Still Is As Above 229789. " DAQmx Create Task VI.1"  "Internal Software Error Occurred In MIG Software". I Would Load 9.1. But It Takes Forever To DownLoad This Program And Install It. After (4) Times I Sooner Not.

I Tried To Run The Example You Asked For But When I Go Into Find Examples I Get A Error Of "NI ServiceLocator Is Not Running" Then The Files Show Up I Click On The One And Get The Same Message And No Program Comes Run's.

Hope We Can Figure This Out Soon.

Mark-

For the NI ServiceLocator error, take a look at this KnowledgeBase to fix the error.

As for the internal MIG error, it sounds like you have a corrupted driver file somewhere on your system.  The MIG software is attached to a driver.  The fact that everything works fine on your friend's computer means there is something specific to your software causing the issue.

You will need to run an MSI Blast utility to cleanly remove all files and registry keys.  Please take a look at this discussion forum for the files needed for the MSI Blast utility.  It is a bit tedious, and I know you have uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times, but this is the next step to take.  Since you will be uninstalling drivers, go ahead and install our newest DAQ driver, NI-DAQmx 9.1 when you are finished.

Run this procedure and let us know if you need any further assistance!
