Hardware failure error -50152

I am using a PCIe-6351 DAQ card that I have had since mid-2011. Recently it has started giving a hardware failure error -50152 fairly frequently, after which it would continue to collect data at a much slower rate. Usually starting and stopping the data acquisition allows the card to begin functioning normally again, but being as I intend to collect very large data sets over long periods of time, this hardware failure error poses a problem.

Is there anything I can do?

Hi,

Could you give us a little more information about the issue? You mentioned it worked well before. Is there anything that has changed in your system/code since you started to see the error pop up? Is it an option to change the PCI slot you are using? Have you tried using debugging tools such as highlight execution or Desktop Trace toolkit? Any information regarding your system, hardware, cables, and code will greatly help in debugging your issue. Thanks!

I'm experiencing this same error when I try to do a self-test for a PXI-6682H card in MAX.  We are running MAX 2012 using 2012 drivers.  There were no problems when the drivers were installed on the hardware.  The card resides in PXIe-1075 chassis in slot #17.

Now this is interesting ...

I replaced the card and put the replacement in slot #2.  Now self-test fails with error -88908.  When I looked at the VISA Test Panel is said there was an error at VI_ATTR_TMO_VALUE on the PXI backplane.

Then I closed and reopened MAX.  This time I went to the Test Panel and no error.  When I did a self test, no error.  Why?

Hey Faustina,

A few things, the 6682H is a system timing card, in the 1075 chassis the system timing slot is slot 10.  I would not be surprised if the errors were thrown due to it being in the wrong slot.

When you moved slots, did you ensure that the power to the chassis was off before removing and reinserting the cards?  The PXI standard does not allow for hotswapping.  I recommend switching to slot 10, then trying the self tests.  If there are any errors then please let us know!
