Thanks John,
I'll try the upgrade and let you know how it goes (in a week or so as I'm tied up with a couple of other things). Yes, I'm using XP, Labview 8.2, and not on a virtual machine.
Thanks for the tip SM, but using differential in this case. I keep it mind for the future

Thanks for the follow-up. We had never managed to solve the original problem. We have now tried the upgrade to DAQmx 9.1.1 and ensured that the USB hotfix is installed. This has not solved the problem - the channel switching continues. Here are our specs:
Windows XP SP3
LabView 8.5
DaqMX 9.1.1 (w USB hotfix)
DAQ-6009
If my laboratory technician could contact you directly, that would help immensely. We had been in touch over the summer, but because of the start of the fall semester (and this is used in a laboratory class) we were unable to send you our entire computer.

Hi, Have you seen this KB? Read trough it and try to eliminate all possibilities related to bad readings. Also, Have you tried to switch to a different USB port ? I don't know if you are using one of the USB ports located in the front of the computer, if that's the case I strongly recommend using the ports in the back.
