NI 6351 Does Not Trigger Correctly

I have a DAQmx task setup to acquire a voltage data set with the following parameters:

Sample Rate: 50Khz

# Samples:10K

Max/Min Input rage/units and scaling: +/-10 Volts (no scaling)

Input CH: ai0

Terminal Config: RSE

Trigger:  Analog Edge, Trigger Source (ai0), Slope: Rising, Level: 2.6

Note: the trigger is a standard trigger and not a ref trigger.

When I run the task in MAX, it triggers, but the trigger is clearly not at 2.6V.

I'm not sure where to go with this.  I've verified that the daq is connected to the ground of the thing I'm measuring (AIGND of the the daq to the ground of my target that is).  Here is the waveform from MAX:

Any ideas?  I've been tearing my hair out trying to figure out what stupid little thing I'm missing. Thanks in advance.

At first glance, I'm not seeing any issues with the settings.

I noticed that there are some instantaneous peaks in the signal that could potentially set this off. Do you know what those are coming from? Is the thing you're connected to a floating system or is it earth-grounded?
