NI 9178 is not detected by computer, any idea?

Are you connecting the 9178 into a USB2.0 port, or a USB3.0 port?

I re-installed LabVIEW 2012 64 bit and driver DAQmx 9.7 on my computer.

Then, I tested two cDAQ NI 9178 devices on my computer.

As shown in the following figure, one of them is detected and the other one is not detected.

I was wondering if the device that is not detected is messed-up.

Hi Cashany,

Can the device that isn't connecting here successfully connect to a different computer? What happens if you switch which USB port and cable the two devices are connected to on this computer?

If this device can never successfully connect to a computer that other devices can connect to, there could be a problem with the device. However, if this device was successfully connecting to other computers it's more likely that something could be going wrong with this computer. Please try using a different USB cable and USB port and see if this device can successfully connect.

Thanks!

Thanks Emily, I swapped USB cables and power cables of the two devices but the bad one is still bad!

Also used diffferent USB port.

The device is not detected on all of computers.

Based on your description, I feel like something is wrong with my cDAQ device.

Hi Cashany,

In your May 30th post you said that the 9178 was detected on some of your three computers. Has it stopped working since the 30th, or was this a different 9178 that you had plugged in? If this chassis won't connect to any of your computers, but other 9178 devices can, then it does sound like something could be wrong with your device.

If you are interested in looking into sending your device in for repair, please open a service request with NI Support.

Actually, I have two cDAQ 9178 devices, one of which can not be detected by any of my computers.

Therefore I feel like I should open a service request.

Thanks for your help,
