Hi all,
As title, I am trying using PCI 6052E + SCB 68 + J type thermocouple to measure temperature in differential mode.
However, the value I got was always 100 degree C which is not reasonable as I was measuring room temperature (it should be around 26 degree)
My hardware connection is as follow:
- thermocouple is connected to pin 68 and 34 of SCB 68
- SCB 68 and PCI 6952E is connected using cable provided by NI
- PCI 6052E is plugged in to a PCI slot inside my desktop
MAX recognized 6052E and it passed the self test.
Regarding the programming part, I think it's is fine as it's pretty simple. For the DAQmx Create Virtual Channel, I used AI Temp Built-In Sensor
I think I have problem with hardware connection..

Dennis,
is your input task configured to be "thermocouple" and the type "J" selected?
Do you read this temperature in MAX (Measurement and Automation Explorer) as well?

Hi Nobert,
Actually I followed the attached VI, just change the polymorphic DAQmx Create Virtual Channel to AI Temp Built-In Sensor

Hi Kate,
But the SCB 68 has built-in Temp sensor. I tried the normal one (Analog input/Thermocouple) but I didn't see anything measurement

Ah yes, you're right as refer to http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/7F2EA1FE43537A0E8625652200522718
I believe you already set them up properly sollowing step in above link.
However, have you set SCB-68 switch properly as shown in page 2-1 of http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/372551a.pdf?

Hi Kate,
In fact, I used DAQmx Create Virtual Channel instead of DAQmx assistant. I thought both are equivalent
Anw, I will give it a try and get back to you
Thanks a lot

Hi all,
Today when I measure using MAX/Create task ..., the valuea I got is around 900 degreeC.
How to check whether the thermocouple and SCB 68 still working (6052E is working as it passed self test)
Thanks
Dennis

Self-test doesn't confirm channel functionality.
Therefore, you cannot use self-test whether your input is function.
You must try inputting a signal and see whether your 6052 channel is dead?
However, I'd recommend to post DETAILED INFORMATION on how do you configure your task, how do you connect your thermocouple, and how do you set swithch on SCB-68.
I belive there's a chance that your set up is wrong more than the card is dead.
