PCI shows as PXI???

I'm installing a PCI-6221 on Windows 7.  Measurement and Automation keeps showing it as a PXI device.  I cannot convince it that it's a PCI and subsequently I cannot connect to my SCXI chassis.

What do I have to do to convince this thing it isn't PXI?  Can I uninstall PXI support completely?

I must add, this is a 64 bit system and I'm using an older version of Labview (8.5.1).

My path was such:

-Labview (Without any hardware) was installed for program development and editing.

-I installed the PCI card and downloaded the latest driver (9.x I think).

-MAX saw the card correctly, allowed me to add SCXI chassis, etc.

-Labview was missing the DAQ assistant function -- The new DAQmx doesn't support 8.5.1.

-Uninstalled DAQ 9.x

-Installed NI-DAQmx 8.6

-No PCI card showed at all.
-Unnstalled all NI products
-Reinstalled 8.5.1 and device drivers
-Reinstalled NI-DAQmx 8.6
-PCI card is there and showing as PXI

That DAQmx didn't appear to support Labview 8.5 when I installed it earlier.  We'll give it a shot.

I've removed all drivers and installed DAQmx 8.7.1 and it doesn't see the 6221 at all.  How frustrating.

It first has to show up in Windows Device Manager. What do you see in there?

It shows up as Data Acquisition Devices, PCI-6221.

I've installed a newer DAQmx (9.0.something) and in addition to thinking the 6221 is a PXI device, it's crashing and freezing like mad.

After another reboot and removing the PCI from my device manager and letting it reinstall, it showed up in the right place in MAX.

Must just be a grey area between windows versions and drivers.
