Signal Input Range for NI 9232 in NI-DAQmx Task

Solved!
Go to solution

I have a quick question about NI-DAQmx Tasks using the NI 9232 module. Are the Signal Input Range "Max" and "Min" fields actually used to limit the input range measured, or are they ignored?

I ask because I had a 14g IEPE accelerometer in AC coupling mode read through a Task that in turn had its Max and Min fields set to 1g and -1g, and it read a 5g signal with no clipping. So I check the datasheet and user manual for the NI 9232, and noticed neither mentions user-configurable gains or signal ranges, so my understanding is the module always reads the full signal range of an IEPE accelerometer up to the module's input voltage limit irrespective of any numbers entered in those two fields. But I'd like to confirm if that's indeed the case.

The max and min values are used to Set Analog Input Gain for DAQ Device

Since NI-9232 has only one signal range of +/- 30 V, changing these values does not have any effect.

Some modules like NI-9205 have multiple input ranges, we use these properties to set the input range.
