Two simultatneous Alternating Parallel Wire Capacitors

Hello All,

I am attempting to run an experiment using parallel wire capacitors to create alternating capacitive electric fields. I am looking for a DAQ and output system to allow me to generate the charges/voltages on the wires, and also allow me to record the field intensity within the capacitor.

This is my experimental set up, I will have two sets of parallel and fully insulated wires (lets say one set in the X dimension, and the other set in the Y dimension). My goal is to alternate the charge on each set of wires at a rate of 200kHz per second, with voltages of ~5-10V, so to create an alternating capacitive field inside the capacitor X direction and another in the Y direction.

Unfortunately, I am not clear on which hardware solution would be the best option for me. Could anyone recommend the correct hardware for the job? Thank you very much in advance.

As far as I understood your description, you want a known (after some maxwell calcutations*) electric field between 4 wires.

I recomment a device with 4 sync channels analog output, since a single channel is ground referenced (or at least not fully floating). A two channel AO followed by a seperate amplifier to get a symmetrical output to GND migth work too ..

How good do you need the sine?  That will define your AO update rate .. I would see 1MSPS as a minimum better 2 or more..

*) I recommend a grounded cylinder around your wires. unless you have a big shielded chamber.   You can still analytical calculate the field for 4 (free or symmetrical ) wires in a cylinder;)

“ground” is a convenient fantasy
