USB-6009 recognized by Windows but not by MAX

Solved!
Go to solution

I have an NI-USB-6009, just purchased this week.  I installed the NI-DAQ full package (NIDAW910f0.exe), rebooted, and plugged the device in.  It's recognized by Windows (it appears under "Data Acquisition Devices" in the Windows device manager), but will not appear in Measurement and Automation Explorer, despite refreshes and reboots.  Any tips on how I can make the device appear in MAX, so I can configure it?

I'm running Windows 7 x86.   MAX is version 4.6.2f1.  The driver is listed in Windows as version 2.4.0f4, copyright 2010 (it was downloaded this week, so stale driver versioning should not be an issue).  I've tried multiple USB ports, all with the same result.

The light on the device is flashing green.

I actually have two NI-USB-6009's; I've tried both, with the same result.

Tips?

Thanks!

Hi Dan,

What does the 6009 look like in Device Manager?  Is there an exclamation point or anything next to the device? Is it called a USB-6009 in Windows?  Has this device ever worked on any machine?  Could you try plugging it into another computer?  Do any other USB devices work with this machine(mouse, keyboard, etc...)?

Problem solved, FYI.  The solution was to just reboot a couple more times. 🙂

The answers to your question, though, wer:

* It looks fine, with the little NI icon, no exclamation point

* Yes, it's called a USB-6009 in Windows

* Yes, the device has worked before

* Yes, all other USB stuff is working fine

We'll call it a non-issue for now; I don't know what was going on.

Thanks for your quick reply!
