I am participating in a research group and we are building robots and using NI-cDAQ 9174 to interface with them. We can easily use the USB connection to the computer to program the robots, however we want to go through a wireless network instead. We've installed a D-link DIR-601-A1 wireless router onto the robot and have a USB to ethernet converter that we want to go from the cDAQ to the router. Our desktop connects to the Router, NI-MAX sees the network, however NI-MAX does not see any devices connected to it, even though we have the cDAQ going into the router. I notice the "ready" indicator is not acitivated on the cDAQ when plugged into the router, unlike when its plugged directly into the desktop computer.

Hi Grubish,
Unfortunately this isn’t a tested or supported configuration for the USB cDAQ. I have a hunch that this might not be working because you are trying to transfer from a USB protocol to an Ethernet protocol and the USB cDAQ is not a host. Therefore, there is no software component to translate this protocol shift to the host computer.
Have you looked into our Ethernet cDAQs (http://sine.ni.com/nips/cds/view/p/lang/en/nid/210669)? It sounds like this is more of what you would need for this application. If you’re interested in looking into this more please reach out, let us know, and we I can get you in contact with the right person.

Hi Johnson,
Thank you for the response. Unfortunately for our situation I dont believe we have the funds available to purchase the ethernet equipped cdaq. We are involved in a robotics club run by our professor at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. I'll let him know about our current situation tomorrow.
Thank you again,
Jason
