Using a stand-alone Bluetooth module for data acquisition

Hi,

I am trying to develop a device that consists of:

-Dell Axim x50v PDA running Windows Mobile 5.0
-4 analog sensors

I have seen many stand-alone Bluetooth modules on the internet such as these:
http://www.rovingnetworks.com/modules.htm

But I have read that Bluetooth is a digital signal and therefore to send the signal from the 4 analog sensors to the PDA I need a A/D converter.  This lead me to this component:
http://www.rovingnetworks.com/bluesentry.htm

This has a built in A/D converter for sampling the analog input and transmitting it over Bluetooth.

I plan to write the application with the Labview PDA module and have seen some examples of Bluetooth PDA applications allowing PDAs to sync and communicate with PCs but have not seen something like this where it connects to a stand-alone Bluetooth Module.

Can someone tell me if what I'm trying to do is feasible or if I am totally overlooking something and can not perform this task with the components I have?

Thanks a lot.

azimi:

You are not overlooking things at all. The LabVIEW PDA module supports Bluetooth and you should be able to talk to your Bluetooth devices. For more information on using the Bluetooth API, please refer to this document. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the support guys.  I have purchased the Bluetooth module and have begun some of the development.  I will post more info once I get it working.

hi azimi,

i am now working on a project similar to yours: data acquisiton from analog sensors and wireless transmission of the data.

how is your work going?

i need more precise (22 bit) ADC, so do you have any suggestions?

Hello,

I am also finding a bluetooth module for data acquisition with at least: 2 channels or more, AD 12 bits or more, 10 k samples / sec for each channel (or faster than 10 ksamples /s).  Please let me know if you have a solution.

This is jsut a thought: http://sine.ni.com/np/app/main/p/bot/no/ap/global/lang/en/pg/2/sn/n24:Wireless/

The 9219, 9237 and 9234 are all available for wireless, and all have 24-bit resolution with 4 channels per module.  The 9237 and 9234 are both DSA devices, where the 9219 is a universal module with a multitude of applications.
