I have not been able to get MAX to function on my laptop for a long time. I usually give up and just use my desktop, but now I need to use the laptop on a service call.
The "latest" problem is when I tried to upgrade all the software to match the desktop, if I click on the "software + sign" I receive the following error:
MaxGeneral Timeout Error
Technical Information: canexperts plug-in
Of course I can find absolutely no information regarding canexperts and all the information regarding the timeout error is useless.
I'm downloading the latest DAQmx software and will load it in a few hours when it's done downloading...
The last attempt to use the laptop for debug resulted with a "dynamic link dll error" regarding the CAN library. Never solved that one either.
I'm using Labview 8.6 RT, my project is on a PXI.
Any clues regarding this particular error would be appreciated. I don't have a current "service agreement" so contacting NI is not an option.
Thanks.

In another post I saw a suggestion to use "Dependency Walker". I have attached the file and will start reviewing it myself.
Thanks.

So I tried the following:
- uninstalled NI-CAN and NI-XNET
- I could clickon the software + sign and everything opened up, could connect to my PXI under remote systems
- re-installed the latest version of NI-XNET with the NI-CAN compatibility layer since I used that in my program
- once again, cannot open the software area or the remote systems, same error message
Thanks.
