The DAQ Assistant requires the newer DAQmx driver. Is there a reason you are using the legacy driver?

Even if you have an older DAQ board that is not supported by DAQmx, there are a lot of shipping examples to help you get started with DAQ.

Bebe,

What Dennis said is correct. The DAQ assistant is only a feature of DAQmx. He also asks a great question - Is there a particular reason you want / need to use Traditional DAQ? I also recommend that you use DAQmx, unless you have a legacy program which requires Traditional DAQ. You can go here and click on the type of hardware you have to see what software it supports. If you are new to DAQmx, there are great shipping examples for LabVIEW (Help » Find Examples... » Hardware Input and Output » DAQmx ).

Please be cautious of what version of DAQmx you download and install, as compatibility between LabVIEW and the driver needs to be taken into account. Please see KB 3PIA89N5 for a compatibility chart concerning this. Since you are using LabVIEW 7.0, the newest version of DAQmx that is compatible is NI-DAQmx 8.1. You can download DAQmx here (Product Line is Multifunction DAQ, Software is NI-DAQmx)
