Hello degenste,

Thank you for posting on the discussion forum. Yes, National Instruments is planning to provide 32-bit and 64-bit versions of our drivers for Windows Vista. Take a look at the following links for more information and a list of drivers that will be offered.

Get Ready for Windows Vista

A Closer Look at Windows Vista, Part III: 32-Bit vs. 64-Bit Windows

Note: Drivers supported by Windows Vista x64 Edition will not necessarily be supported by the 64-bit edition of Windows XP. National Instruments will support Windows Vista x64 Edition with driver releases and software updates, but there are no plans for NI to support Windows XP x64 Edition.

If your interest is to use our products with Windows XP 64-bit, please reference the link below for more information.

Are National Instruments Products Compatible with Windows XP 64-bit for AMD's x86-64 Technology?

I hope this information is useful to you.

Out of curiosity
, are you planning on adopting Windows Vista or did you want to use 64-bit drivers in a different operating system?

Regards,

Thanks for your post.  I am specifically interested in whether you know if there is a timeline for having these 64 bit drivers finished.

Are we talking withing the month, within 6 months or within a year for having usable 64 bit drivers.  I have my computer configured with 64 bit os and the national instruments stuff at this point is the only hardware for which I am lacking drivers.

Unfortunately I am using the 64 bit xp and from what I have read it appears that 64 bit vista will be supported but not 64 bit xp.  I am hesistant to "upgrade" to vista because I have heard mixed reviews of vista and obviously because there are no  64 bit drivers.

I would welcome any input.  I think that the most prudent course would be to use the old tried and true 32 bit xp.

Thanks
Nick

I can say the drivers should be available within the next couple of months, hopefully sooner, but this leaves padding in case there are any major catastrophe's on our end. As the original responder said we are NOT planning on supporting XP 64 only Vista 64.  Please respond if you have question.
