NI 6581 adapter module drive strength

I could not find a link to electrical specifications for the NI 6581.

For example:

  • What is the drive strength (in mA) of the NI 6581 adapter module?
  • What is voh_min at the max current?
  • It looks like there are LEDs. Are they user controllable?

Hello TomC_NGC,

The NI 6581 is designed to have similar specifications as the NI 6541.  Checking out the specifications for the 6541 should give you an idea of the capabilities we are aiming for with the NI 6581.

The 6581 will not have any LEDs built onto it.  There will be two VHDCI connectors (similar to connectors used on HSDIO products like the NI 6541) on the device that will be used to connector DIO signals.  There will also be a connector that will allow for you to use an external voltage reference.  This will allow for you to set your own logic level reference for the 6581 as well as use this to supply the drive current.

The FlexRIO on the other hand does have 4 user controllable LEDs.  These are fully controllable from your FPGA VI in which you can read and write the current LED states.

I also want to point out another option for users of the FlexRIO.  The Module Development Kit allows you to develop your own custom IO.
