I plan to use the NI VHDCI cable, P/N SHC68-C68-D4, to connect my custom adapter module to the receiving end. I will be driving LVTTL signals. Therefore I need to ground the cable's shield on my end somehow. My guru says I should ground the shield to chassis ground, *not* signal ground.
Is the mounting hardware electrically connected to earth ground?
If not, how else can I accomplish my goal of separately grounding the cable shield?

The FlexRIO IO Module enclosure is connected to the PXI Chassis ground via the mounting screws. If you are designing a custom IO Module you can connect signals/planes on your PCB to the IO Module enclosure via the IO Module PCB mounting screws and/or the IO Module front panel.
We are currently working on adding information about chassis/shield ground connections to the MDK manual.
