How to define a custom port to communicate with a PLC via Modbus Ethernet

Hi all,

I'm using DSC to create a Modbus I/O Server to communicate with a PLC. It's pretty simple even for a beginner like me. However, I couldn't find a way to change the ethernet port associated to the communication (ie. to communicate with a port different than the usual 502).

¿Is there any way to configure a Modbus I/O Server with a custom ethernet port for Modbus TCP/IP?

Thank you in advance for your kind help,

Best regards,

Pablo

Hey Pablo,

The correct place to post support questions is to our forums. In your case, specifically the industrial communications forum here: http://forums.ni.com/t5/Industrial-Communications/bd-p/260

To the best of my knowledge, I/O servers do not have the ability to change their port from 502. According to the spec, modbus devices are required to support 502 and may support others, but are not required to support others.

Thanks,

Daniel
