Detecting a watchdog reset

Interacting directly with the o.s. is fine for us. We are learning a great deal of information in this way.

Thanks again.

Is this solution still valid in 2020? I cannot read the reset_source file as admin user.

@Thomas444 I found the file at the following location:

/sys/devices/soc0/amba@0/e0004000.i2c/i2c-0/0-0040

Admittedly I didn't try to open the file with a running program. I used FileZilla, with sftp and logged in as admin.

Hi all,

I am trying to search 'reset_source' file under "/sys/bus/i2c/devices/0-0040/reset_source" on Industrial Controller IC-3173 to understand reason for reset.

but i can't find 0-0040 under devices folder. I can see some different folders:

I can see reset file at: "/sys/bus/i2c/devices/i2c-0/device/reset", but i can't open that or cant copy that file. I am getting Error 13 while opening this file.

Using commands mentioned by BradM, I can see i have only write access not read access. If i try to change access using chmod or chown or chmod 444 commands, i am getting "operation not permitted" error.

Is there any other way to access reset_source file for IC-3173?

Any suggestion will helpful.

Thanks in advance,

Ashwini A Pandit
