Install MySQL on cRIO-9057 unsuccesful

if i remove the user mysql from NI crio Web config page i am able to start it manualy:

i found the problem which was in the /etc/my.cnf file

 i had to modify mysql.err file name to mysql.log

Something is going on here. I have tried to setup a new development system and can't get MySQL to start.

I followed the same setup as I have on several systems but now I am getting an error

/usr/bin/mysqld_safe: line 152:  mysqld_safe_helper: command not found.

I have found some random posts from 2017 stating that the mysqld_safe_helper was not included in the mariadb.inc file.

Ok, I figured out that I has inadvertently installed the 2018 distribution and not the 2017 which I previously used successfully. Once I formatted the disk and installed the 2017 (LabVIEW Real-Time 17.0.0).

Just for reference, at present 17.0.2 with 18.5 does NOT have a good mysql5 package. I can 

I was able to get mysql to install as follows:

PLEASE REMEMBER TO SET A PASSWORD FOR THE MariaDB root USER !
To do so, start the server, then issue the following commands:

'/usr/bin/mysqladmin' -u root password 'new-password'
'/usr/bin/mysqladmin' -u root -h NI-cRIO-9030-01E017D7 password 'new-password'

Alternatively you can run:
'/usr/bin/mysql_secure_installation'

which will also give you the option of removing the test
databases and anonymous user created by default. This is
strongly recommended for production servers.

It looks like according to the following post the Yocto build in the 2017 time frame had a bad include of the mariaDB.

This was causing the mysqld_safe launch to fail because the mysqld_safe_helper wasn't included.

I will also add the following, which I think addresses the issue seen with the log/err file, I think you need to change the admin password from the empty default before installing mysql.
