Installation error: ni-metauninstaller (22.0.0.49152-0+f0)

When installing NI-MXDAQ (22.5) on a Windows 11 machine, the following error message is displayed almost immediately:

An error occurred while installing a package: ni-metauninstaller (22.0.0.49152-o+f0).

An error occurred while installing the MSI at "MU\MetaUninstaller.msi". The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2705.

The OS is Windows 11 21H2 with all updates applied and the user has full administrator rights. 

The following has been tried:

MXdaq versions 21.0 and 19.5

Reset of windows.

Full uninstall and deletion of registry entries.

The same error occurs every time. The enhanced log file is attached. The MSI errors suggest a folder or tree error.

I think your attachment went missing. It might have been blocked based on filename extension - if you upload it again and see that kind of message somewhere (easy to miss) then try either renaming or zipping the file.

Some other forum threads suggest restarting the pc might be enough - can you try that and then install?

Particularly if you installed other things and then ignored NIPM's "You need to restart your computer" message (I know, always tempting...) this might be the case.

The PC has been restarted when required, including a cold boot. 

I've re-uploaded the log file as a zip.

From what I have interpreted from the Log File, this is an error message thrown by the installer itself

Googling MSI Error 2705 shows some hits, ususally questions from people who are buildung installers.

Have you tried to install an earlier version of the package? 

Or have you tried to install ni-metaunistaller seperately?

I agree it is an error in the installer. 

I've tried versions 21.0, 19.5 as offline installs and they fail on the same error. 

I tried installing the ni-metauninstaller separately by deselect all the MXdaq packages and then installing the package. It throws the same error. 

I cannot find a separate install kit for it.

Not sure if it works, but might be worth a try:

if you have donwloaded the offline installer, mount thge ISO image and look for a folder called pool. There you will find all dependencies including the metauninstaller.

Try install it from there by double clicking it. NI Package Manager will open up.

BTW... you're not happening to run out of disk space? 😉

I've tried what you suggested and it produces the same error, so the metauninstaller.msi is causing the issue.

I hope 450GB is enough free-space 😉

I tried doing a clean install of the everything using the Windows 11 compatibility tester/mode (it said it was Windows 8 ) and the same error occurred.

😕 ok, so it seemd I've ignored the Win11 bit up untill now... that would've been my suspect for sure

According to this thread, Win11 should be ok.

Are you also using LabVIEW or drivers only? Maybe the LabVIEW Package which Eric mentions installs the drivers ok...

Just grasping at straws...
